Abstract

The article focuses on the construction and opening of the Saint Louis Union Station in Missouri on September 1, 1894. The construction of the railroad station was made after officials ordered the draining of the Petite Riviere due to cholera casualties in 1850. Deep caves and vaults from an old brewery had to be demolished and extracted to give way to the construction. The station's design was made by Theodore C. Link in 1890.
