In the title compound, C18H15Cl4NO3, the isoindole fragment is slightly twisted and exhibits a propeller-like conformation. The dihedral angle between the isoindoline mean plane and phenyl ring is 59.47 (7)°. Inter­molecular O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol­ecules into chains running along the b axis.
