Abstract
- The article focuses on the design of photographer Bert Hardy's image of Queen Elizabeth II entering the Paris Opera House, in Paris, France, during a diplomatic visit. Hardy snuck into the opera with his camera, which had a narrow view, under his oversized jacket because of restrictions against the British press at the event. Hardy then took twenty pictures and had them pieced together into a montage in order to depict the entire scene. A diagram depicting how the photographs were joined is provided. A brief biographical overview of Hardy is included. Hardy's photographs were published in the "Picture Post," which went out of circulation a few weeks after Hardy's pictures appeared.
