Abstract
- The article reports that Kyrgyz parliament in Kyrgyzstan has voted on a new draft constitution. Kyrgyz Republic president Kurmanbek Bakiyev had demanded through his supporters in parliament that his powers be restored. However, the opposition kept the authors of the draft from getting the required two-thirds vote in parliament. According to experts, the situation involving the new draft constitution could potentially divide the team of president Bakiyev and prime minister Feliks Kulov.
