- This article profiles East Meadow, New York resident Marvin Singer. Singer was sent to jail in October of 2006 for failure to pay his ex-wife's lawyer $100,000, or roughly half of what he owes her for her legal fees during their six-year divorce trial. Singer is one of a small number of people who have gone to jail due to a divorce settlement.
