Abstract

Abstract: We have performed powder X-ray-diffraction measurements on in fields up to 5T in the temperature range 8–310K. The compound which has the hexagonal type of structure shows a field-induced isostructural phase transition. We found that the cell volume decreases slightly and continuously with increasing magnetic field, although the lattice parameter ratio c/a drastically changes. A tentative analysis of the dependence of the lattice parameters on the magnetization has been carried out using the extended Bean–Rodbell model. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
