Abstract

The article reports on the advantages of fiber consumption. Consumers are advised that the occasional use of fiber supplements is acceptable and may help with weight loss. With their use, however, consumers will miss out on other nutrients found in foods with high fiber content since fiber's health benefits may come from the components in fiber rich foods and not from the fiber alone. The U.S. Food & Drug Administration recommends that consumers consume 25 to 30 grams of fiber per day.
