Abstract: This article discusses how retirees gather daily in all types of weather on the boardwalk at Jones Beach, New York to get exercise and visit with one another. Most of them are seeking a different, quieter version of their former working lives and they enjoy discussing subjects such as investments, doctors, and grandchildren. Although they might not remember names of deceased friends, they miss them when they are gone.
