Abstract

The author offers suggested ways on how schools can have funds to finance for their author and poet visits for children of all ages. Children can learn more from meeting professional writers. While, good speakers can inspire them to write and communicate in an eloquent manner. A method to fund presentation is to sell books written by the visiting author. Another fund raiser is school-wide book fairs in which proceeds is used for author visits. She discusses her efforts along with Olga McLaren in raising money for poetry endowment of children in their school. First step, for endowment is a meeting that addresses concerns on the needed income to fund a poet annually. Also included in the discussion is the person who is responsible to keep records and acknowledge contributions.
