Abstract
- The article reports that the University of Nebraska at Lincoln has sued the United States government to try to force it to respond to a petition the institution filed as part of the process of hiring a Bolivian historian. In June 2005, the university submitted a visa petition on behalf of the historian, Waskar Ari Chachaki, whom Nebraska had hired for as an assistant professor of history and ethnic studies, to begin that fall. The petition simply seeks to establish that Mr. Ari has the professional qualifications to apply for a visa for the job.
