Abstract
- Information about several papers discussed at a symposium on the rapid increase of the outbreak of contact lens-related Fusarium keratitis is presented. It is stated that even with the quick action, Singapore Eye Research Institute reported that in 68 Fusarium keratitis infections, 54 of which occurred in the year before the February 2006 cases. Five patients required corneal transplants. In the U.S., 164 cases are reported which were confirmed between June 1, 2005 and June 30, 2006.
