Abstract

The article reports on a March 2007 conference for teachers of English-language learners, which took place in Seattle, Washington. Participants discussed desired changes to the U.S. No Child Left Behind Act that would better benefit limited English proficient students. Concerns expressed include the Act's lack of consideration for students' English language proficiency and lack of a category for teachers of English language learners under the "highly qualified" definitions.
