Abstract

The article explains proposed changes to the census information used to determine funding for primary schools in Great Britain. The government is proposing in March 2007 to begin using census information gathered in September for budget decisions made in April, as information gathered in January is not normally complete in time for the April meetings. Some concern is expressed over how this will affect a trend for students starting school before age 5.
