Abstract
- The article reports on the plan of Dow Chemical Co. to begin producing propylene glycol from a renewable raw material at its facility in Houston, Texas. The company will use its breakthrough technology to manufacture the propylene glycol renewable (PGR) is created as a by-product when vegetable and seed oils are transesterified into the blend of methyl esters known as biodiesel. Dow expects to have limited commercial quantities of PGR available in mid-2007.
