Abstract: The article presents a case study regarding the collaboration between U.S.-based biopharmaceutical start-up firm Ilypsa Inc. and German custom manufacturer Saltigo to develop polymeric pharmaceutical products. The partnership with Saltigo allows Ilypsa to take advantage of the other firm's skills in the field of multi-step chemical synthesis. According to German polymer chemist and Ilypsa's chief business officer Gerrit Klaerner, they wanted to provide solutions to life-threatening diseases.
