Pickwick Club: posthumous papers.

The article reports on guidelines on the prevention and management of obesity which were issued by Great Britain's National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence and were used by the periodical "British Medical Journal" to build its own model on obesity management and treatment. A discussion of the benefits associated with diet and exercise in the treatment of obesity and the negative results of rapid weight loss and wight loss drug use in its treatment, is presented. The benefits of bariatric surgery are discussed.
