Abstract

The article reports that the U.S. Senate Armed Services Chairman Michael Levin is voluntarily complying with the Senate-passed earmark disclosure requirements. It states that Senators requesting earmarks in the FY08 defense authorization bill will be required to disclose their backing for a project, name and location of recipient, and the purpose of the earmark. However earmark critics state that unless disclosure requirements are applied to all committees, authorizing panels could continue to allow earmarks.
