Abstract: The article offers information on the recovery of a compact disc containing confidential medical and personal information related to 75,000 members of Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield. The compact disc was missing since January and was found only when Magellan Behavioral Services received a telephone call on March 14, 2007 which brought the whereabouts of the disc to the light. It contained unencrypted medical and personal details of patients which is prohibited by privacy laws.
