Abstract
- The article presents the findings of a study of Taiwanese college students' reading habits and preferences, based on two surveys from 2004 and compared with surveys of U.S. students. The authors' intent is to quantify the amount of time spent on extracurricular reading; the reading differences between demographic groups, institution types, and college majors; and college students' preferred reading materials. They present studies of college students in Western countries to provide a base of understanding of the extracurricular reading habits of young adults. Their results are examined and presented statistically and analytically then compared to results of similar studies from the United States.
