Abstract

The article discusses dying cancer cells, which can have a positive, negative, or neutral effect on the immune system. Cell death, known as apoptosis, is discussed in detail, as well the benefits of using doxorubicin over using mitomycin in chemotherapy experiments with lab mice. The study "Caspase-dependent immunogenicity of doxorubicin-induced tumor cell death," by N. Casares and colleagues is reviewed, and the implications highlighted. Clinical applications with cancer treatment are presented, and further research is encouraged.
