Abstract

The author reflects on several issues surrounding the time consumed by university employees at work following the implementation of the structural developments in British university system. He argues that the required 35 work hours per week for academic employees with additional time either at work or away from the workplace but without additional pay is unfair. He asserts that the strong demand of the time of university employees' work lessens their quality of life and adds more pressure and stress on their workload. He suggests to develop a more comprehensive sense of scheduled time could offer professors a way of managing and controlling personal time.
