Abstract

This article focuses on the love-letter of a nobleman Prince Conti to a woman that shows the characteristics of the jewels. Prince Conti sent a diamond to a woman with a letter that expresses the preciousness of the jewel and the texts. However, Prince Conti lost his desire to the jewel and ordered to crush it when the woman return the jewel to him. Like the jewel in the letter, in which Prince Conti lost his interest, marketed jewels also lost its appeal to the customers. The disappearance of jewelry in the late-nineteenth century marks its lost in modern style.
