THE HUMAN FACTOR: The Relief of Eyestrain on a Fine Assembly Process.

In the course of an investigation by the Institute, visual fatigue among men engaged on a fine assembly process was greatly reduced by (i) the provision of glasses for men with defective vision, (ii) the introduction of a rest pause, (iii) the installation of a new type of lighting unit, specially designed for the work. Output, in consequence, was increased by nearly 20 per cent., and the percentage of spoiled work reduced by more than half. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
