Abstract

The article reports that U.S. President George W. Bush has proposed setting a long-term goal to cut worldwide greenhouse gas emissions, and wants other high-polluting nations to create an agreement by the end of 2007 on how to do so. The proposal reverses prior administration policy on greenhouse gases, which was to resist calls for action to limit them. Bush will present his proposal to the Group of 8 industrial nations summit conference in June 2007.
