Abstract

The article discusses federal fraud charges faced by Charleston Southern University professor Albert E. Parish Jr. Authorities claim that Parish, an economics professor, defrauded about 300 investors through three investment companies he runs. Charleston Southern University is one of the investors Parish bilked and is suing him and his wife for $10.7 million. The university invested nearly $5.4 million of its endowment and $5.3 million from its operating budget into funds run by Parish Economics LLC. Parish claims that he has developed amnesia and has no recollection of his investment practices.
