Abstract: The article discusses several issues regarding the upcoming selection of a national bird for Israel. According to Israeli officials the selection is a tool to generate local identification and way to raise the issue of environmentalism and animal protection. Some of the birds being considered include the bulbul, a festive songbird and the Palestine sunbird.
