Abstract

The article presents a study which shows the effects of exercise in overweight Japanese with multiple cardiovascular risk factors in a randomized controlled trial. The participants of the study, who should have two of the risk factors such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, or glucose intolerance, will receive a standard health exam with counseling followed by randomization. A marginal significance between-group difference in changes in systolic blood pressure is among the primary outcome measures. Moreover, it was concluded that exercising an average of 2.6 times per week for six months, produces a significant improvement in cardiovascular risk profile without adverse effects.
