Abstract

The article focuses on the growing street crime involving youngsters in central Queens, New York City. The major gangs operating in the region include the Latin Kings, the Bloods, the Crips and Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13). These gangs have specific dress codes. The Bloods favor red and pink, while the Latin Kings prefer black and gold. The police informed that in every one of the seven or more attacks in the area, the victims and the attackers were young Latino men aged between 15 to 20.
