Abstract

This article examines the ongoing war in Sri Lanka and the possibility for a peaceful resolution. The country is made up of two main groups; the Sinhalese and the Tamils. The rebels are known as the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, this group fights for the Tamils, who are a minority in the country. The majority are represented by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and the Buddhist clergy. The author details the country's economic conditions and how the Tamils are fighting to get what they want.
