Abstract
- The article reports that the University of California has backed down in a dispute with the family of Jacques Derrida and agreed to drop a lawsuit against his widow and to relinquish its claim to some of the papers of the late French philosopher and literary theorist. The university filed a motion to dismiss its lawsuit in May. An agreement still has to be signed by the Derrida family and approved by the court, according to a university spokeswoman. The suit originally contended Derrida's widow had violated an agreement with the university to house his papers there.
