Abstract
- The sample for this investigation consisted of 80 people: 37 were beginning their studies as superior technicians in policiology, 30 were finishing their studies in preventive policiology, and 13 were active elements of a police force who agreed to participate. All individuals were living in Aguascalientes, Mexico at the moment of the study, were 18 years old or older and were, mostly, men. The semantic networks method was used for the collection of data. Three words were give as stimuli: homosexual, transsexual, and transvestite. These future policemen refer to homosexual people using disrespectful words and associate immediately a transvestite or transsexual person with being gay. Participants associate homosexuality to an illness and transvestism to a job as well as to joy and fun. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
