Abstract

The article focuses on wilderness camping and tourism in northern Idaho. Idaho contains no national parks, but has more public forest land than any U.S. state except Alaska. The state is also far from the best known natural attractions of the West. Many of its most beautiful sites and best opportunities for outdoor recreation such as fishing or white-water rafting and canoeing are located miles away from paved roads
