Abstract

The article discusses the study which examines the mode by which Fpg and hOGG1 enzymes identify their substrate. It analyzes their activity with various 2'-deoxyguanosine (dG) and 8-oxo-2'-deoxyguanosine (OdG) analogues which varied at only N7 and N8 positions. In addition, results indicate that broad substrate specificity at the imidazole ring of OdG and lends further insight into the mechanism of substrate recognition by two important repair glycosylases.
