Abstract
- This article looks at the Perry Branch Library of the Maricopa County Library District in Arizona which got rid of the Dewey decimal system of shelving books. The library patrons did not notice any difference and on the first day without the system nearly 1000 books were checked out. Perry has set up the shelves by topic as bookstores do. The experiment was so successful that the county plans to convert more of its libraries to the Dewey-less system.
