A survey conducted in December 2006 showed a huge gap between many typical pattern consumers and the pattern experts community. The survey indicates several respondents have written their own patterns and only few of them availed the body of work. The authors have figured out the complexities between aspiring pattern authors compared to a more collaborative platform that provide better authoring, pattern selection and evolution with usability that are available in popular community sites.
