VA Report Spreads Blame for Data Loss.

The article reports on the paper issue by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' inspector general which claims that an information technology worker at the department did not secure data stored on an external hard drive which lost or stolen in January 2007. It blamed officials at the agency's medical center in Alabama for letting the worker access large amounts of information that was beyond the scope of the projects he process. Directors of the center are also liable for not ensuring which proper safeguards were put in place for securing data on external drives.
