Abstract
- The article reports on the effects of the U.S. No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) on teaching practices. The author refers to a RAND Corp. study, carried out in California, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, results of which indicate that a significant percentage of educators are giving excess attention to test-taking strategies, borderline students, and topics included on state tests. Information on the law's impact on staff morale, student learning, accountability, and demographic influences is included.
