Abstract
- The article reports on the dismissal of presidential security chief Akmurad Redzhepov by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov. Redzhepov's departure effectively marks the real end to the legacy of Turkmenbashi Saparmurad Niyazov. He held the post for 12 years and implemented all the Turkmenbashi's repressive measures. The reactions of experts and exiled Turkmen opposition leaders to the Redzhepov's dismissal are highlighted.
