Abstract

The article focuses on the development of an artificial trap for the collection of fragments of dispersed bryophytes and lichens. The device, which was made of plastic FinnTurf doormats that are connected to the ground with large nails, was used for studying seed banks and seed dispersal in harsh environment. However, it has not been used to evaluate colonization of dispersal of bryophytes. In research on forests, colonization was initiated after a disturbance in a previous examination which suitable on branches and forest floors. If the method is successful, colonizing processes and vegetation dynamics would not be hard to perform in harsh locations.
