Abstract
- The article reports that concern over the environmental dangers of plastic shopping bags recently caused San Francisco, California to ban them. The bags are difficult to recycle, take centuries to decompose, and litter landscapes. A hosts of other cities, including Phoenix, Boston, Berkeley, Oakland and Santa Cruz, California, and Portland, Oregon, are considering similar measures.
