Abstract
- The article provides information on the various uses of the English word "like." It is stated that as a verb, the word "like" gives off an affectionate connotation, while in other parts of speech it emphasizes what things have in common. According to the author, the word "like" has also developed another connotation that denotes a gossipy usage which is not in conformity with the purists of grammar.
