Abstract
- The article reports that Bolivian scholar Waskar T. Ari Chachaki has received a visa to work in the United States more than two years after he was hired to teach at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and several months after the university sued the federal government to let him into the United States. The government has never given Mr. Ari, or the university, an explanation of why it refused to give him a visa for two years, or why it decided to grant him one now, prompting academic rights-advocates to claim the Bush administration had political reasons for the denial.
