Abstract
- The article focuses on the attention given by publications to pets. According to Houghton Mifflin senior editor Susan Canavan, people have more thoughtful relationships with their pets than ever before. Publisher Christopher Reggio says that because of the success of general interest pet titles such as Marley and Me and The Dog Whisperer, mainstream trade houses are publishing projects that supplement the traditional pet care titles that were once the exclusive terrain of specialty publishers.
