Abstract
- The article focuses on the legal citation network which is referred to by the author as "The Web of Law," in the U.S. According to the author, American case law and other legal authorities are organized in certain ways as a web or network with its nodes connected by the links of citations. He added that the Web of Law has a structure very similar to other real networks such as the web and the network of scientific papers. Moreover, the most striking feature of the distribution is the extraordinary concentration of precedential authority in a relatively few cases. He emphasized there are many promising hypotheses can be generated by considering the law as a scale-free network.
