Abstract
- The author reflects on the commercialization of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. He argues that the town has transformed from an artist neighborhood into one driven by the hipster movement. An overview of the development of cultural consumption in Williamsburg is offered. It is stated that many artists have left the town and have been replaced by hipsters who may well be leaders of the mainstream.
