Abstract
- A literary criticism of the books "All Souls' Rising," "Master of the Crossroads," and "The Stone That the Builder Refused," by Madison Smartt Bell is presented. It explores the characterization of Toussaint Louverature, a revolutionary figure who is involved in the Haitian Revolution, in light of other Haitian literature and the history of Haiti during the time of the revolution. It also discusses Toussaint as a mythological figure.
