Abstract

The article reports that grocery shoppers have developed a taste for both low-priced and high-priced products and income, age and location provide no reliable guide as to which personality will prefer a low-priced product and which will favor a high-priced product. Woolworths chief executive Michael Luscombe admits that the middle market is shrinking in Australia and that this is demonstrated by the sales data.
