Abstract
- The article reports on the possibility that ABN Amro Holding NV will accept a takeover bid by a consortium headed by Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC. ABN Amro Chief Executive Rijkman Groenink stated that the firm will assist the consortium to produce the best transition plan if it wins. ABN Amro had originally agreed to be sold to Barclays PLC but the ABN management engaged with the consortium when the stock price of Barclays dropped. The offer from Barclays was a 16.7% discount to the bid of the consortium.
