Abstract

The article focuses on snus, a smokeless tobacco product popular in Sweden. Snus differs from snuff in that users do not spit, and has not been linked to mouth or lung cancers. Tobacco companies R. J. Reynolds and Philip Morris have begun test marketing snus in the U.S. Health activists say snus use will prevent smokers from giving up tobacco use altogether. Swedish Match, the leading maker of snus, has begun importing it to the U.S.
