The article presents information about important news items published by the periodical "Nation" during the 1960's. Some of these are, researchers James Watson and Francis Crick published a paper identifying structure of chromosomes and nature of DNA in 1953. Their findings advance understanding of heredity but will be commercially exploited by patenting of genes and introduction of genetically modified plants. The Free Speech Movement at Berkeley launched an era of unrest on college campuses in the year 1964.
